Relationship violence/Support

The Office of Youth and Trauma Services works to prevent and mitigate exposure to violence and trauma for youth ages 11-24 years. This is accomplished through implementation of evidence based public health and human service models, and collaboration with community, youth and families. Their focus includes school-based violence prevention and intervention, suicide prevention, trauma informed care and mental health first aid training, and victim services.

ELG is a nonprofit licensed by Behavioral Health Services, and CARF Accredited to provide Level I Outpatient care, Level II Intensive Outpatient care, Withdrawal Management, Outpatient Mental Health, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Counseling for Adults and Minors, and Men’s Transitional Housing.

The Family Violence Prevention and Services Program administers the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA), the primary federal funding stream dedicated to the support of emergency shelter and related assistance for victims of domestic violence and their children. Programs listed include Resource Centers, State Domestic Violence Coalitions, and the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

HARBEL is a caring multipurpose organization that works to build and support our communities through service, advocacy, and empowerment. The foundation of our support to northeast Baltimore is built upon the three pillars of housing, prevention and recovery and community service. There are three main services:

• The Housing Partnership serves communities in both Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Home buyers should seek services from the housing counseling agency where they are most likely to purchase a home.
• Harbel’s Community Relations program has the most far-reaching positive impact of all of member associations in the Northeast.
• An outpatient substance abuse prevention and treatment center which serves adults and adolescents in Baltimore City and the surrounding areas.

House of Ruth Maryland provides direct services for victims of intimate partner violence (IPV) and their children. They lead the fight to end violence against women and their children by confronting the attitudes, behaviors and systems that perpetuate it, and by providing victims with the services necessary to rebuild their lives safely and free of fear. Their services include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, legal services, counseling services, community education and abuse intervention.

Adelante Familia is a bilingual program at the House of Ruth Maryland dedicated to the eradication of intimate partner violence in the Latino community. Adelante Familia serves Spanish-speaking immigrants living in Baltimore who are victims, or at risk of being victims, or are perpetrators of intimate partner violence. They provide services to people who have gone through Intimate Partner Violence. These include Counseling, Legal Services, Service Coordination, Abuse Intervention Programs and Outreach to the Latino Community

Love is Respect is a website and hotline that serves as the national resource to disrupt and prevent unhealthy relationships and intimate partner violence by providing inclusive and equitable education, support, and resources. Resources include information on dating, healthy relationships, personal safety, supporting others, and getting help, along with their hotline.

Operating around the clock, seven days a week, confidential and free of cost, the National Domestic Violence Hotline provides lifesaving tools and immediate support to enable victims to find safety and live lives free of abuse. The Hotline provides highly trained, experienced advocates to offer compassionate support, crisis intervention information and referral services in over 170 languages. Visitors to this site can find information about domestic violence, safety planning, and local resources.

The Pride Center of Maryland (PCOM) is the state’s primary source for guidance, education, cultural competency, and services to improve quality of life, especially for LGBTQ+/SGL (same-gender-loving) youth, adults, elders, and allies of all backgrounds, ethnicities, perspectives, genders, sexualities, and cultures.

Through youth development, mental health, violence prevention, support services, and trauma-informed care programs, PCOM advocates for equity, justice, and safe access to well-being and protection while building bridges and understanding between diverse communities.

The Violet Project provides sexual and reproductive health education and resources to all youth in Maryland. At violetproject.org, youth can learn about these topics and order safer sex products, menstrual products, and STI testing, all for FREE! The Violet Project is by youth, for youth, with many volunteer opportunities for teens and young adults!

The Westside Youth Opportunity Center (Westside YO) works with Baltimore City residents between 18 and 24 years old. They are primarily a career development program that includes a full academic program ranging from adult basic education all the way to GED preparation. They are youth development based with case management at or core.
